“Project Liberation-My Alopecia Experience”, is the debut film release from Dubose Entertainment. It was produced and directed by  independent filmmaker, Sandra Dubose and filmed by Rick Mitchell of Videos By Design. In this inspiring self-documentary, Sandra shares the details of her journey toward self love and self acceptance when she experienced complete hair loss starting at the age of 25, due to the autoimmune disease Alopecia Universalis.

In this film, Sandra accompanied by her closest friends,  The Link Sister Circle, explore the relationship women have with their hair and uncover the true origin of beauty. Sandra talks candidly but humorously about the painful emotional roller coaster she encountered as she watched all of the hair on her body disappear from the root.

Informative and empowering, Project Liberation is a real life example of how to turn lemons into lemonade. You will be inspired as you witness Sandra’s courage when she goes outside bald for the very first time and celebrates herself by doing a bald glamor photo shoot. Filled with heartwarming moments, loads of laughter and happy tears, this film is a powerful story that is healing hearts and liberating others all over the world.

*To accompany the film, Sandra has written and recorded the Project Liberation Music Soundtrack. It is the perfect compliment to the film with positive, thoughtful lyrics that encourage the heart and sultry vocals that soothe your soul. One loyal listener said; “Sandra’s voice is like peace in a bottle.”

Praise for Project Liberation

I found the documentary to be very inspirational. It speaks volumes to the issue many people have with their looks, their insecurities and how others think and feel about appearance. After seeing this film, they will walk away with a life learned lesson: You are not defined by what you look like, rather how you look at life. C. Swayzer/ Durham, NC

I truly enjoyed your documentary. So many times as women, we become overly consumed by our hair. We struggle to be accepted and define ourselves by our appearance instead of our inner beauty. It was such an eye opener and truly blessed me. I admire your strength and beauty. Goddess Shona/ Garner, NC

Being a cosmetology student, I see women everyday and how they act about their hair. They see their hair as what makes them beautiful. It’s not about what’s on the outside that counts, it’s what’s on the inside, and we define beauty. You have been such been a motivation to me since I saw you speak at Wake Tech College. You help me remember that I am beautiful regardless of what I look like. A. Kadel/ Clayton, NC

You are by far the best motivational speaker I have ever seen! I have psoriasis which is an autoimmune disease as well, so it is good to hear how you built up the courage to accept it and stay strong. You are awesome! Thank you and God bless. S. Holmes/Willow Springs, NC
